Warshall account

An account is optional. The app runs fully without one. It exists for the parts that reach another device or another person.

What it is for

• Adding a person to a review by email. Model reviewers work without an account.

Everything else works signed out. While you are signed in, a review you author carries the name and email from your account instead of a local placeholder.

Creating an account

Accounts are created on the website’s account page. The Create account button on the desktop’s account card opens the same page.

1. Choose Create account.
2. Enter a name, an email address and a password. The password needs at least ten characters.
3. A six digit code is mailed to that address. Type it on the same page, and the account exists.

• A code is good for ten minutes.
• Send again works once a minute.
• Five wrong codes lock that attempt, and you start again.

Forgot password works the same way. Enter the address, get a code by mail, then enter the code and a new password. Changing the password this way signs every device on the account out.

Signing the desktop in

Open Settings, go to the Accounts tab, and find the Warshall account card at the top. It reads Not signed in until you sign in.

1. Press Sign in. The desktop asks the account service for a code, opens the device page on the website in your browser with the code filled in, and shows the same code on the card under Approve the code on the website.
2. On the website, sign in if you are not already. Check that the device named is the one in front of you, and choose Approve.
3. Within a few seconds the card shows your name and email, with Manage, which opens the account page, and Sign out.

While it waits, the card has Open the page to open the device page again and Cancel to stop. The code is good for ten minutes.

The desktop names itself Warshall on the machine’s name, so you can tell two computers apart in the device list. Its sign in is checked once at every launch. If the session was revoked, the app signs out and the card says This device was signed out of the account.

The mobile remote does not use the account. A phone links by scanning a code the desktop shows. See Mobile remote.

Devices

The account page lists every device signed in to the account. Each row shows the kind of device, which is Browser, Desktop or Phone, the name it reported, and when it was last seen. Sign out on a row ends that device’s session. The browser you are using is marked this browser and cannot be signed out from the list.

The device page also takes a code by hand when a device shows you one. You have to be signed in on the website first.

1. Enter the code and choose Continue.
2. Check the device named.
3. Choose Approve to sign it in, or Deny to refuse it.

Deleting the account

Delete account sits at the bottom of the account page. It asks for your password, then Delete my account removes the account and every signed in device. Keep it backs out.

Nothing on your machines is touched. Projects, conversations and maps are local files and stay where they are.
